Who We Are

Classy Writing, LLC (classywriting.com), also known as CW, is a writing and editing business owned by Michelle Troutman. CW creates quality custom content that boosts service firms’ brands to attract ideal clients.

CW doesn’t sell, rent, or share your data with third parties except as described below.

What, How, and Why We Collect Information

Comments

When visitors comment on the site, to combat spam, CW collects the data, their Internet Protocol (IP) address, and browser user agent string.

If you have a Gravatar account, a code or anonymized string might be made from your email address (also called a hash) to check if you’re using their service. Read their privacy policy. Once CW approves your comment, the public can see your profile picture in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload content through the content review form, avoid sending images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Website visitors may download and extract any location data from these images on the website.

Cookies

A cookie is a set of data a website stores on a visitor’s computer. It keeps limited data about visitors.

For example, if you leave a comment, cookies identify your name and email address, saving you from re-entering them each time you comment.

If you don’t want to have cookies placed on your computer, you can set your web browser to reject them before you visit this website.

By commenting at this site or subscribing to Five-Minute Business Writing Tips, you agree to store your name, email, or website in cookies through Gravatar or MailChimp (mailchimp.com).

MailChimp, owned by Intuit, collects and handles all data you enter in the newsletter subscription form.

The data is used to manage your subscription preferences and to email you the content you requested. You may stop getting emails at any time through the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of the messages. For more info about the information gathered, visit the Intuit Global Privacy Center.

Contact Form

CW collects all data from the contact form and sends it to site owner Michelle Troutman’s email address. That data may include your name, email address, message content, and any other information you share through that form.

Analytics

Classy Writing uses tools such as Google Analytics to manage the site, monitor traffic, and determine how visitors use it. CW does this to improve the overall experience. For information about Google’s procedures and privacy policies, check Google’s Safeguarding Your Data.

External Sites

  • Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves as if the visitor has visited the other website.
  • We might check visitor comments through an automated spam detection service.
  • We link back to other websites from our site. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, and track your interaction through embedded content.

CW provides the links for your convenience but doesn’t review or monitor others’ privacy practices. We recommend you check the sites’ privacy policies regarding how they use your information.

Length of Data Retention

If you leave a blog post comment, we keep the comment and its metadata indefinitely or until the website owner removes it. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments quickly rather than holding them for moderation.

Visitors’ Rights Over Their Data

If you’ve left comments at this website, you may request a file of the data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. This doesn’t include any data we must keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Policy Changes

Though most changes are likely to be minor, Classy Writing might update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Check this page regularly for updates. If you keep using this site after any policy changes, you accept those changes.
